CROCHETING:
This course will introduce you to the wonderful world of crocheting.
Once you have mastered the basics (chaining, making a sample swatch
to check your gauge, decreasing, increasing & finishing off),
you will start an actual project. If you already know how to crochet, you
can learn some new techniques and patterns. Please bring supplies to
the first night of class.

to learn with - no homespun of "Fun" yarns - lighter colors are easier to start with) CROCHET HOOK

FLORAL DESIGN - INTERMEDIATE
This class is a continuation of the fresh floral design
class with an emphasis on the following: With emphasis on High style,
Party centerpieces,
Oriental and Ikebana. The fee for supplies is $175. The $175 supply
is due on the following installments: January 24, 2006 ($75), February
14, 2006 ($50), March 7, 2006 ($50)
POLYMER CLAY JEWELRY MAKING
This course
will teach beginners to create new and exciting jewelry. Step by step
you will be taken through the process of manipulating
colored clay into beads, pendents, earrings, etc. New process to transfer
childrens pictures onto pendents. Supplies are inexpensive. Please
bring supplies to the first night of class.

KNITTING
The goal of this class is to introduce you, the beginner, to the
wonderful world of knitting. If you already know how to knit, I
can teach you new techniques, new patterns and give assistance
with your projects. Once you have mastered the basics ( casting
on, making a simple swatch to check your gauge, decreasing, increasing
and binding off), I like to start you on an actual project. Please
bring supplies to the first night of class.

STAINED GLASS
If you enjoy church windows and would like your home completed in
pieces of glass put together with a copper foil edge, which is
soldered together this class is for you. Start with a four piece butterfly.
You will be taught to cut and solder samples. Please
bring supplies to the first night of class.

TRASH TO TREASURE
If you love the thrift store, this class will teach you
hot to use your flea market finds to create one-of-kind decorations for
your home. This class will teach techniques that transform ordinary objects
into something extraordinary!
TRASH TO TREASURE MATERIALS LIST & LESSON
PLAN
Tools will be optional if you want to bring them depending upon the
project and may include drill, screw gun, hammer and pliers; however,
I will always bring the tools. Most projects don't even require any
tools at all!
WEEK 1: Kitchen mug pegboard
One piece decorative molding (found, bought, salvaged....whatever) to
make pegboard (any lengh). Painted or not. If un-painted, bring acrylic
paint
or stain in color you like and sandpaper. Or if you like to decoupage
bring "mod podge" (available at any craft store.) and magazines, pictures
or gift wrap for cutting and collaging. (I will teach you 2 or 3 techniques
for re-finishing an old or new piece of wood.)
Objects to be pegs: forks of any kind, the more interesting the better!
Tools optional: drill, screw gun, pliers, hammer
WEEK 2: Tile
mosaic makeover.
Stepping stone, paver, bottle, lamp base or candlestick.
One old stepping stone, paver, bottle, lamp base or candlesticks any
size or type to makeover. Some old tile or dishes,
any type (as many pieces as covers the surface of your stone), or you
can purchase ceramic 4"x 4" tiles in lots of colors
at Home Depot or Lowe's and plates of all types are available at any
thrift store. Any type of outdoor adhesive or tile adhesive. Hammer and
towel.
WEEK 3: Grouting our stepping stone from week 2
One grout float. Sanded tile grout in black or terracotta color. 2.5
gallon bucket. Bring your chair for a discussion on next week's chair
project.
WEEK 4: Funky Chair Re-make start.
One old wooden chair to remake (any type of seat). Sandpaper, paint,
fabric, tile, tassles, buttons, ribbon WHATEVER you need to re-make
your chair as we have discussed the previous week. Call me if you
have missed the last class (632-9404).
WEEK 5: Funky Chair Re-make finish
WEEK 6: Cutlery chimes
Seven pieces silver cutlery (spoons or forks or mixed). Real silver
ones in different patterns and sizes are available at Faith Farm
for .50 each. The more different the more interesting your chimes.
Fishing line. Pliers. Glass beads your choice. Hammer.
WEEK 7: Colander herb planter
Two colanders or wire baskets with handles. Five feet or chain to
match, your choice. Sphagnum moss. Small bag soil. Small assortment
of herbs to plant (parsley, oregano, basil, mint....)
WEEK 8: YOUR CHOICE
Bring something YOU want to remake and we will work together
to come up with great ideas for it!
WATERCOLOR, BEGINNING
Learn the history and technique of watercolor. Class will cover
landscape, seascape, still life and human/animal
expression. Also will explore
oriental technique in watercolor, Chinese
and Japanese. Supplies needed

COMPUTER
ADOBE PHOTOSHOP - ELEMENTS
3.0 (BEGINNERS)
Adobe Photoshop provides powerful, industry standard image-editing
tools for anyone who wants to produce sophisticated graphics for print
and the web. It also contains the tools and commands for improving the
quality of a protograph's image from acquisition and resizing through retouching.
This course helps learn the basic features of Photoshop quickly and easily
through hands-on instruction. Should have knowledge on how to use a computer.
Ex: open, save and close files.
ADOBE PHOTOSHOP - ELEMENTS
3.0 (INTERMEDIATE)
Intermediate Photoshop will start with a refresher of the basic skills
in Photoshop. Students should be familiar and own copies of the Photoshop
program. Students should have access to a computer at home to work
with photographs and be able to bring digital copies to class for discussion.
Class will include photo manipulation, scanning, use of layers, using
filters, channels and masks, editing and retouching, reproducing color
accurately, automating tasks and printing.
DREAMWEAVER
This class covers introductory through intermediate techniques in web-design
using Dreamweaver 4.0. It will also provide an overview of site design. Emphasis
will be placed on creative use of tools in Dreamweaver. Students should have
familiarity with the basics of PC operation, including using the mouse and
saving files. This course is targeted at students who wish to create HTML materials
that can be used in developing web sites.
INTRODUCTION TO COMPUTERS
To instruct each participant in the functional use of computer software
and hardware and its integration in the home. This course is
for the computer novice. This will be a class that will get participants
involved
in the world of computers. The following topics will be covered:
parts of the computer, how a computer works, types of computers, Windows
95/98, “mousing” skills and computer terminology.
INTRODUCTION TO MICROSOFT OFFICE
To learn the basics of the programs of Microsoft's Office Suite - Word (processing),
PowerPoint
(presentation),
Excel (spreadsheets), Access (database), and Outlook.
CREDIT LAB
The high school credit classes are designed as individualized courses
enabling the student to work independently at is/her own speed. Credit
classes, with the approval of the guidance department, may be used as
a means to raise a student's grade point average for graduation or participation
in extracurricular activities. Students are able to forgive D's and earn
credit for F's.
DANCE
BALLET (16 YRS OLD OR OLDER)
Learn all the basic barre exercises and adagio (slow
control center floor movements)
BALLET DANCERS
Movements and choreography offer to satisfy diverse levels.
BELLY DANCERS (BEGINNERS/INTERMEDIATE)
This is a fun class with the intention of learning how
to belly dance and working out the mid section of your body.
HIP HOP (13 yrs old or older)
Have fun and learn the basic street moves, music and
video type movements and get a physical workout.
SOCIAL
DANCING
Social dancinga
is one of the "fun-filled" ways to improve
your skills on the dance floor and at the same time get lots of exercise.
You will learn the basic patterns in Cha Cha, Rumba, Waltz, Fox Trot,
Swing, Tango and Merengue.
LINE DANCING (BEGINNER)
Learn all the favorite dances, step by step and have fun while doing
it.
LINE DANCING (INTERMEDIATE)
Learn all the favorite dances, step by step and have fun while doing
it.
SWING, SALSA & HUSTLE
(Beg.)
This is a basic Latin dance class focusing primarily on the Salsa and
the ever-popular Swing. The Hustle will be covered, time permitting.
DOG OBEDIENCE TRAINING
All 4 levels of dog obedience use the praise method of positive reinforcement.
The snap/jerk method is NOT used. Emphasis on a learning method using
attention, focus bonding, and a team working out of love.
PUPPY KINDERGARTEN
(For dogs UNDER 6 months with no prior training.)
Puppies from 7 weeks to 6 months are taught manners, socialization with
people and other puppies, sit/down stay, controlled walking on a leash,
coming when called, and stand. Additional areas are addressed including
mouthing, barking, housebreaking, digging, chewing, grooming, care, feeding,
destruction, and other individual concerns. A mandatory 6-foot cotton-web
training leash and nylon buckle collar is required. Puppy Kindergarten
teaches the handler how to train a puppy to be a valued family member.
BASIC HOME OBEDIENCE
(For dogs OVER 6 months that are Puppy Kindergarten graduates OR dogs
with no prior training.)
Any dog regardless of age can be trained. Yes, you can teach an old dog
new tricks. Basic Home bedience is for beginning obedience -sit, down,
recall, heeling, stand, beginning jumping, and socialization. The class
is designed for both the person who wants good home behavior, and the
class lays the foundation for AKC obedience competitors as well. A mandatory 6-foot cotton-web-training leash and metal collar is required.
Basic Home Obedience is a must for every dog.
BEYOND BASIC OBEDIENCE (WITH TEACHER APPROVAL ONLY)
(For dogs that have SUCCESSFULLY completed a Basic Obedience class
where the praise method was taught)
Dogs in Beyond Basic should have a solid foundation in the skills
listed above in Basic Home Obedience. Dogs should be ready to be
worked off
leash. Skills include novice, open, and utility, lthough techniques
taught are appropriate for polishing the dog for better home control
without intent to show.
Screening is done on the first evening by the instructor to assure
the fundamentals have been mastered to meet the objectives.
INTERMEDIATE OBEDIENCE
(For dogs over 6 months who have SUCCESSFULLY completed a Basic Obedience
class where the praise method was taught)
At the intermediate level, skills will be polished in preparation for
the off-lead work *stressed in Beyond Basic. Finishes will be taught
as well as hand signals and special handling techniques. Intermediate
Obedience is for the dog that is not quite ready for Beyond Basic, but
has mastered the skills taught in basic Home Obedience. A flexi-line
is additional equipment needed at this level.
* This level of obedience is to ease the frustration of working in groups
in Beyond Basic who are at high skill levels.
FITNESS
PILATES
Want flat stomach and stronger muscles? Pilates is the class
for you. Strengthen and lengthen all your muscles for a longer, leaner
look. Come join this fun new class make sure to bring your own mat.
TOTAL BODY CONDITIONING
A total of 30/40 minutes of step combination
movement to music followed by upper/lower body weight, abs training and
cool down.
YOGA – GENTLE/MODERATE
This class is oriented for those new to yoga and for those who prefer
a gentle to moderate regimen of yoga positions. The class is designed
to help reduce stress and promote relaxation as well as gradually improving
flexibility, strength, and balance. A few loaner yoga mats are available
from the instructor, but it’s recommended that you purchase one
before the first class.
YOGA-INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED
This class is oriented for those who are in good physical condition,
who are at least moderately flexible. Expect a somewhat rigorous workout
challenging your flexibility and strength, balance and concentration.
Yoga experience is recommended. Bring your sticky mat.
GED PROGRAM
The GED (General Education
Development) program provides the opportunity for adults to complete
formal high school requirements and to achieve
a State of Florida High School Diploma. The GED preparatory classes include
the five areas of study: writing skills, social studies, science, reading
skills and mathematics. The GED test is given weekly in one of five testing
centers district wide. Classes are held Tuesday & Thursday from 6:00
pm - 9:00 pm and Saturday from 9:30 am - 12:30 pm.
LANGUAGE
E.S.O.L.
The E.S.O.L. program for people desires to learn the English language.
Communication skills and literacy in English are the primary objectives.
Students are assessed for English proficiency level and assigned to
the appropriate level of class - intermediate or advanced. Classes
are held throughout the district, day and evening. They are open to
citizens, resident aliens, immigrants, refugees, and visa students.
CHINESE (BEGINNING)
This is a conversational approach to speaking Mandarin-Chinese
language in order to communicate. A Chinese-English dictionary is
necessary
for
the course.
ITALIAN – CONVERSATIONAL
(BEGINNER)
This is a conversational approach to speaking the language in order to
communicate. An Italian-English dictionary is necessary for the course.

Is the continuation of basic conversational Italian with increased emphasis
on grammar, practiced through every day conversational situations?

Reduction
This class provides students whose native language is other
than English with an opportunity to improve the accuracy of their American

pronunciation, stress and intonation. Through presentation and practice,
students will learn strategies for improving the clarity of their speech
and English language usage. Recommended for students with at least a
fairly good (conversational) understanding of English.
Wedding Planning

RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES
RACQUETBALL - BEGINNERS
An introduction course, covering the fundamental strokes, strategy and
rules of racquetball. Emphasis wil be placed upon skills development
and the execution of these skills. * Students must wear gym clothes
and tennis shoes as well as bring their own racquetball
racket and protective eyewear to each class.
